24 Hour Crisis & Support Line

Our 24-hours a day, 7 days a week Crisis and Support Line provides free, confidential, non-judgemental, specialized support for survivors of recent and/or historic sexual violence. We provide resources, accompaniments, personalized support and crisis intervention for callers of all identities.
Callers do not have to give a name, leave a phone number or fill out any forms.

Counselling
Counselling Services
SAC Kingston offers individual counselling individuals who have experienced recent and/or historic sexual violence in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.
Partners, friends and family who are seeking information on how to support a survivor are welcome to contact us. We can assist with childcare and transportation.
Our counsellors are experienced in trauma-informed care with a specialty in working with those who have experienced sexual violence.
Groups
Some groups are therapeutic and some are educational. Some groups are drop-in, but others require advance registration. Please contact us for more information.

Managing Powerful Emotions Group
Interested in participating in SAC Kingston’s Managing Powerful Emotions Group? Register at no cost. Starts September 15th 2016 at Sexual Assault Centre Kingston.
Managing Powerful Emotions Group is designed to help you:
- Identify and label your emotions
- Understand the purpose of your emotions
- Recognize what activates and intensifies your emotions
- Understand the relationship between emotions and behaviour

Youth Services
High School Prevention & Response
We provide prevention workshops to local high schools. The workshops focus on consent, bystander intervention, healthy relationships and more. Referrals can be made for students attending traditional and alternative high schools in Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox and Addington. In addition, we serve youth outside of high school settings.

Education and Training:
The Community Education Program aims to promote social change through advocacy, prevention and awareness programming in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington.
What does the Community Education Program include?
- Development and facilitation of workshops upon request
- Speaking engagements (panel discussions, events, etc.)
- Annual event organizing
- Participation in committees/coalitions
- Informational material development and distribution
- Social media and website maintenance
- Public relations
Workshops
SAC Kingston offers a variety of workshops at no cost to the community. Content and length of the workshops are flexible and can be catered to the target audience and number of attendees.
SAC Kingston has facilitated workshops on a variety of topics in the community, in high schools, in post-secondary schools, for other organizations/institutions, for student groups/clubs and in workplace settings.

Consultation
Sexual violence affects many people in survivors’ lives. If you would like a consultation appointment or more information about supporting a survivor in your life, please contact us.
Information and Referral
Staff and volunteers are able to provide general information about sexual violence and related community services. Counsellors are able to refer clients to a variety of community medical/legal/support services, if desired.

Accompaniments
Our counsellors and our trained volunteers are able to facilitate and arrange any accompaniments that clients or community members not affiliated with SAC Kingston require. Accompaniments can be:
- to the hospital
- to the police station
- to court preparation or court proceedings
Please call the Crisis and Support Line if you require an accompaniment outside of the Centre’s normal service hours (Monday-Friday 9am-4pm).
Childcare
Contact us ahead of time for free childcare, on-site, by trained SAC Kingston volunteers.
Transportation
If you lack transportation or need to access financial assistance for transportation to and from appointments, please contact us for information about coverage by SAC Kingston or alternative options.
Interpretation/Translation and ASL Services
Interpretation/translation services is available in 300+ languages.
ASL is available upon request.
